Michael grew up in St. Louis, MO playing for the St. Louis Jr. Blues Tier 1 AAA organization. Michael was trained by Vladislav Tretiak and has worked with many NHL goalies (Evgeni Nabokov, Ilya Bryzgalov, Robert Esche, and others.) In 2010 Michael was drafted 14th overall in the KHL draft as an 18 year old by Spartak Moscow. In his rookie year, at the age of 19, Michael backed up legend Dominik Hasek and was top-10 in save percentage in the Russian minor league. Michael has learned much about training to be a champion from Stanley Cup winning coach Barry Smith. Michael is also co-head coach of the New Jersey Renegades Jr. B Hockey team of the Metropolitan Hockey League. Michael plans on bringing his tactical knowledge and professional experience to the Rutgers Hockey program.
