Coach Bernstein is from Matawan, NJ and grew up playing youth hockey for various travel teams in the area, including the NJ Raiders and Protec Selects before starting his collegiate career at Rutgers. “Bernie” is a four year alumni of the Ice Knights D2 ACHA team, having helped propel the team from its inaugural year to achieving two GNCHC playoff appearances before he graduated. He completed his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers in Sports Management in 2013, and has since completed his Masters degree in Sports Psychology at Florida State University. While at FSU, he was also co-head coach of their ACHA Division 3 team for two years. Using his playing and coaching experience, the advanced education he received at FSU studying mental skills techniques within athletics and his passion for Rutgers Hockey, Martin will lead the Ice Knights into a new era both on and off the ice.
